 JOE KUČERA

More than fifty years ago Joe Kučera, a native of Prague began to play the clarinet. Shortly thereafter he picked up a soprano saxophone that has rarely been out of his hands since. In 1968 he escaped from the East bloc to Austria and then on to West German, joined up with the musical "Hair" and started his professional musical path in the West. His unique melodic and lyrical style of playing also made him a sought after musician in the studio. Joe has played on over 30 LP's and 50 CD's. Over the years Joe has played with many international artists. In his latest project "Roger Dodger", Joe has brought together five excellent musicians from five different parts of the world.

Besides being an active performing musician, Joe has taken advantage of his knowledge of the Berlin and Prague music scenes and become a festival founder and promoter. Since 1997 Joe has gathered diverse musicians and put together great international festivals. As musical director he formed the "Europe Blues Train" festival in 2009 together with Birgit Bogner. The "Blues Train" festival brings together the old guard musicians with newly discovered talented young musicians who carry quality music through Europe and into the future.
